I don't think there is a better bike for the money out there. I shopped around. I am very happy with the sturdiness and operation of the bike. There are many programs, a pulse sensor, heart rate programs, etc. If there is any fault to be found I would say the user interface is not extremely easy to figure out, but with a little effort and persistence I am able to work it easily now. I highly recommend for the $199 Free shipping price.

Rear-Wheel-Steering Recumbent Bike Prototype Testing

Part of our Cal Poly senior project. This is the prototype for a bike that will compete in the 2010 Human Powered Vehicle competition in 2010. www.asme.org Many of the features are adjustable, including the head tube angle (the angle of the hinge), the wheelbase by multiple dropouts for the front and rear wheels, the control sensitivity by the lever-arm linkages, and the seat position. I am very happy with my Schwinn 230. The price was somewhat comparable to the stores, however, the free delivery was a plus and without tax. The delivery company called prior to delivery to assure I was here to accept it, (a good thing)and all was well with the box and the machine. I love every thing about it! A great deal for the money! I assure you I will not use it for a coat rack. The assembly wasn't so bad, about an hour, except be watchful how you put it together because you have to take it apart again to add things. I love Amazon, they have it all, and are so accomodating!

I purchased this bike as a substitute for running due to illness. The bike was delivered in good condition including the box. It was easy to installed in about 45 minutes. I placed in in my media room and can watch TV without having to raise the volume of the set. Con:The digital display is hard to impossible to read in the dark. Great value for the money!

When the exercise bike arrived, I was pleasantly surprised to see such a short instruction booklet. Within 20 minutes, the bike was ready to go. As expected, the bike is compact, fitting into a small corner in the bedroom. Additionally (and unexpectedly), the bike is surprising quiet. This makes it very easy to watch television or listen to music simultaneously.

This is a great economical bike. I needed something small and sturdy. I love that it has a back and is comfortable. I am short 5'0' and have to wear sneakers to reach the pedals well but its a fine fit with the shoes on. My husband put it together no problem. It fits in a small space just like I wanted and has really helped me increase my calorie burn each day. The counter is great too! I think some of the negitive reviews might be valid if you paid more for the bike but Amazon has such a great price, I have really enjoyed my inexpensive bike!

Confidence Fitness Space Saving X Bike

Like many people, I found this bike easy to put together and a nice work-out for someone who is reasonably fit, but not an avid bicyclist.
About six months into using it, it starting squealing (as mentioned by other reviewers), but didn't really have a way of opening it up, so I suffered through it. Then a couple of months later, it felt like the pedals were jerking. This steadily got worse, and I started noticing black fragments under the bike after use (again, as mentioned by others) so I got a long screw driver and opened up the plastic wheel casting. Sure enough, the underside of the belt has started wearing away, causing the pedals to slip, and making using the bike more and more difficult.
I have sent an email to the company, but I'm not holding my breath for a fix, let alone a response. Although I have been pleased with my workout until now, I am disappointed that it was not made to last.

HI, I also researched about which recumbent bike to use. I never saw the issue I am having and I want to warn others. The seat to me is very un-comfortable! There is a ridge on the seat, probably there for a good reason. However, the main reason I got this bike was so that I can sit and exercise and I cannot. Today, after much playing around with towels, pillows and anything that can fill up the ridge area, some comfort with a pad I found in my closet. Even then, I cannot sit on the bike for too long, hurts.

The bike is solid, however, once we got past level 6 there is a grnding noise, I cannot seem to get through the support line. Also, like someone said, the bike keeps counting even when you have stopped excercising. I have other machines in the house, when you stop so does the timer. We cannot figure out yet how to program this bike, the directions are not very good at all. Once again, I am trying to reach the support line provided and I cannot.

So, yes, the bike has real quality and hopefully except for the seat, we will figure out the rest and keep the bike. However, like I said the seat for us, real issue of comfort, not there.

When mine arrived it had a crack in the plastic body. I decided that it wasn't a big deal so I would just use it anyways. After putting the whole thing together, it turned out I had a defective tensioner, it was hardly a workout even at full intensity.

So I returned it to amazon and got another one. Guess what? Exact same problems. Body was broken again, damaged during shipping along with one of the wheels was also broken in shipping ; and the tensioner was no good.

Do yourself a favor and just buy a nicer bike that works.

I originally purchased a cheaper recumbent bike by Stamina, it had missing parts and once that problem was solved it turned out was defective anyway (the monitor didn't work at all and the tension would not adjust at all). I did more research and visited various stores to actually try these bikes out. The Stamina's frame actually seemed to hold up better than most other bikes in the $200 range, which was almost upsetting as I couldn't afford the more expensive bikes, but the Schwinn had much better features, smoother and obviously better built. For just a little more than the others, you get a great bike, and this is considerably less than what other quality bikes are going for. All the parts were carefully packaged (nothing missing!) and instructions were easy to understand. It took about an hour to put together, carefully reading all materials before doing any of the work. Once put together, I thought that the seat adjuster was broken, but it turned out just needed a firmer push to lock in place - it works perfectly, quiet, smooth, provides a great workout and I absolutely love and recommend it!

First I was impressed by how easy assembly was. I had it together in about 45 minutes. It has enough adjustment in the seat and handlebars to where I was able to get it very comfortable quickly. I'm short so I was worried that would be an issue. Between the reviews and the instruction book I figured out the programming system. It's very stable. I'm not sure what I think about the seat yet but it could just be getting used to it. I spent 3 days looking at about 15 bikes before I settled on this one. Couldn't be happier!

This excersize bike is sturdy and not really hard to assemble. The pieces were well packaged so it was not damaged or anything when I got it. I put it together following the instructions (which also include some helpful stretching techniques in the back for before you start using the bike). I used the bike for 30 minutes the first day I had it and was fine. But the next day I woke up and my butt hurt SO BAD that I could barely sit on the bike again. I waited until my soreness went away, and bought a seat pad from Wal-Mart. This bike seat is 10 inches across and about 10 inches long. So, if you're going to buy a bike seat pad make sure it's big enough to fit that. Other than the seat, it's a very nice and simple bike to work out on.

I really like this bike. It is comfortable, compact, and extremely quiet. Unlike another recumbent bike I have, it does not hurt my knees or my back or take up too much room in a small apartment. It enables me to get a good workout in spite of rheumatoid arthritis, which somewhat limits my exercise options. It is easy to move and put in storage if need be. I was planning to fold it up and put it away between sessions, but it is so small I can just leave it out all the time. It was pretty easy to assemble; I did it myself in about an hour. The directions were clear and everything fit where it was supposed to go.
All in all, I would highly recommend this to anyone who needs a pleasant, convenient, and effective form of exercise.
